Is Now the Best Time to Sell Your Timeshare?
Like many things, it depends. If you desperately need cash, or uncomfortably burdened by annual maintenance fee, then yes, sell it to better weather the current financial storms. There are a lot of brokers and listings where that can take place. However, given the current poor economic state, the demand for Timeshare is rather low.
Starwood Hotels & Resorts, one of the largets resort operators in the world, just reported a ~27% decrease in vacation home revenue due to decreasing sales of timeshares in compare to 2007. Basically a lot of new potential timeshare owners are tightening their belt, and holding off in purchasing timeshare. This means that if you sell now, given the low demand, you will not likely get a good price.
Perhaps a better solution is to rent it. That way, instead of draining money, you might break even, or perhaps make a profit. Craigslist is a good way to do it. So is Redweek.
